While browsing Society6 this afternoon this series of art-pieces took my breath away ~ I couldn’t wait until next Friday to share them, so here they are!
My second favourite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (right between The Princess Bride and Winnie the Pooh). If you haven’t read it yet, you need to! They recently made it into a motion picture that depicted it perfectly. The story is told by Death during World War II. No, it’s not a violent or morbid book… It has a beautiful message of embracing life even in the grimmest of times.
Below are three pieces from an extremely talented artist, Erik Krenz. It shows his beautiful interpenetration of the opening scenes in the book. For those of you who have read the book, notice the detail he’s added with the background colours. Stunning! I will be buying this series in the near future for my studio! (As always, just click on the images to be directed to where you can buy them on the artist’s page.)
What do you think of Erik’s work? Have you read The Book Thief or seen the movie? Seen any other interpretations of Markus Zusak’s work? I’d love it if you’d share it with me!
